In 2019, Sam got real honest about their identity when they came out as non-binary. In an honest Instagram post, Sam wrote, “After a lifetime of being at war with my gender I’ve decided to embrace myself for who I am, inside and out.” They told Jameela Jamil that they are “not male or female, I think I flow somewhere in between.” Sam also revealed that they wanted to be referred to as “they/them”.
2. Sam Knew He Was Gay at the Age of Four
Sam Smith has been very open about their sexuality since coming into the spotlight.
