1. Beyonce Won her First Talent Show Aged 7
Beyoncé was a star from a young age. At just 7 years-old, she won a talent pageant beating kids twice her age and receiving a standing ovation. So what did little Bey do to win that? Well not much, she simply sang John Lennon’s Imagine and showed off her killer vocals.
2. She Used to Sweep Floors (Kinda)
Beyonce’s first kind of job was sweeping hairs off the floors at her mother’s hair salon called Headliners. The singer also sang there and was paid tips to pay for her season pass to Six Flags – an amusement park. We’ve all gotta start somewhere right?
3. She Appeared on Star Search Aged 13
Wondering what Beyonce did to be become famous and what set her on the path to success? In 1993, the diva in-making entered one of the biggest talent shows on TV as a member of the band ‘Girls Tyme’. The group managed to come second, which is shown in her video for Flawless. The band would later famously become known as Destiny’s Child – one of the biggest selling girl-bands in history.
4. Beyoncé’s Dad Stole from Her
Beyoncé’s father, Mathew, who earned a salary of six-figures quit his sales job to manage Destiny’s Child full time. He managed to nab them a deal with Columbia Records in 1997 setting off their career. Later on, when Beyoncé decided to go solo, she discovered that her father was stealing from her I Am… tour. Following that, Bey decided to be her own boss and make her own decisions, parting ways with her dad. The father and daughter later rebuilt their relationship although we’re sure Bey doesn’t forget his betrayal.
5. She’s Suffered From Depression
Here’s a fact about Beyonce’s life that isn’t talked about much. During the Destiny’s Child era, Beyoncé would lock herself in her room for days without leaving. She hit an all-time low when Luckett and Roberson left the band and sued her dad; the princess of pop was publicly blamed for their departure and received her first blow of scrutiny. It’s refreshing to know that even the diva that has it all is still human on the inside and deals with the same issues that us ‘normal folk’ face.
6. There’s a Reason Why 4 is Beyoncé’s Favorite Number
If you’re a die-hard fan, this will come as no surprise as Queen B’s fourth studio album was titled 4. But has anyone ever told you why? The bootylicious singer was born on the 4th September, her mum was born on the 4th January, Jay-Z was born on the 4th December and the pair got married on the 4th April 2008. In 2012, when her first-born arrived, she named her Blue Ivy, a play on the Roman numeral 4. Her and Jay-Z even have a tattoo of this on their left-hand ring fingers.
7. Bey Started Dating Jay-Z Aged 19
Beyonce’s dating life is kept private but one thing we do know is that she’s totally loved up with her husband, Jay-Z. He was Beyonce’s teenage sweetheart and they’re still going strong over 15 years later. Dating rumors swirled in 2002 when Jay released his hit, 03 Bonnie & Clyde alongside Bey but they never made their relationship official until 2004 when they appeared in matching outfits at the MTV Video Music Awards. They got married in 2008, had their first child, Blue Ivy in 2012 and their twins, Rumi and Sir in 2017.
8. She’s Allergic to Perfume
Surprisingly, the beauty bombshell is in fact, allergic to most perfumes. Despite having released her own line of perfumes since 2008 including the ever-popular “Heat”, she has a reaction to most other perfumes and has to have them chemically altered before she can spritz them on. It’s a good job she delved into her own line!
9. She Has Won 22 Grammy Awards
The pop princess is the most nominated woman in the history of the Grammy’s and she is the first artist to win six awards in just one night. No wonder Kanye kicked up a fuss when Taylor Swift won over Beyoncé at the 2009 MTV Awards, right? Bey is the proud and worthy owner of Grammy Awards for Best Music Video (Formation), Best R&B Song (Drunk in Love), Song of the Year (Single Ladies) and several more.
10. Beyoncé Only Had One Boyfriend Before Jay
Beyoncé opened up about her previous relationship with The Telegraph and said that she only ever had one other boyfriend before she met her hubby. She met him when she was 12 and was with him up until the age of 17. The woman that could have any man drop at her feet said: “I was too young for it to really be a boyfriend – we didn’t live together, we didn’t, you know… That was my only experience with a guy, and since then I’ve only had one other boyfriend in my life.” Cute!
11. She Wrote ‘Crazy In Love’ In 2 Hours – With A Hangover!
Is there anything this goddess can’t do? She really is unstoppable. In 2002, Beyoncé met record producer, Rich Harrison who had the track Crazy in Love. 12. She Can Sing and Run at The Same Time
Whilst most of us get out of breath running for less than a minute, Beyoncé can do this and hit those high notes effortlessly. She has her dad to thanks for this super-talent, as he made the girl-band run and sing at the same time in the early stages of her career. He did this so she could learn to perform on stage without getting exhausted. I guess that’s what makes her live performances so incredible – her ability to dance and sing flawlessly.

The triple-threat launched an acting career staring in several movies and appearing alongside Mike Meyers in Austin Powers in Goldmember, Steve Martin in Pink Panther, and Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx in Dreamgirls. She’s also been the star of Obsessed and the voice over for Queen Tara in the Disney movie Epic. The star hasn’t had much time for acting as of late but she did say “I don’t think it is possible, [but] I would love to have an Oscar. That is the most ambitious thing — I have time for that.”

Only Queen B can manage to add a word like “bootylicious” to the dictionary. The official meaning is “a woman (sexually attractive)”.
15. Beyonce Suffered a Miscarriage
Indeed, Bey went through a difficult time in 2009 when she miscarried her first baby in the very early stages of her pregnancy. “I heard the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life…I picked out names, I envisioned what my child would look like.. I was feeling very maternal…I flew back to New York to get my check up – and no heartbeat,’ she revealed in her HBO documentary, Life Is But a Dream. Just 2-3 years later, Beyonce successfully fell pregnant with her now 6-year-old, Blue Ivy.

I remember it like it was yesterday – that magical moment when Beyoncé revealed her second pregnancy on Instagram with a gorgeous photo. The Insta-snap racked up 6,335,571 likes in less than 8 hours, beating Selena Gomez for the ‘Most liked image on Instagram’ Guinness World Record. That’s not all. Her first pregnancy reveal at the 2011 MTV Awards also sent Twitter into overdrive, with the most tweets per second recorded for a single event” on Twitter, receiving 8868 tweets per seconds.
17. Her Bodyguard Once Broke her Toe
In an advantageous event, Bey’s bodyguard was trying to protect her but stood on her foot and broke her toe. It shows that the Queen of Pop can take it all without complaining.
18. Beyonce’s Favorite Indulgence is Pizza
I bet you’re thinking “OMG me too!”. Yes, the Independent Woman also likes to tuck into a greasy slice of pizza on her off-days. To show her love for the cheesy piece of goodness, she was seen wearing a whole pizza-themed outfit in December 2013.
19. She’s also a Goddess of Charity Work
Beyoncé has a heart of gold and loves to give back to those in need. She’s been known for giving over $7 million to the homeless of Houston and set up the #BEYGOOD initiative to fight hunger. She once said: “I was 13 and my sister Solange was 8 when we started donating and serving meals to the homeless after church. There were people from all walks of life, even children, who needed a meal. We learned that we are all three paychecks away from poverty. According to Forbes Magazine, the chart-topping superstar is worth over $350 million. Her husband doubles that income with a net worth of over $810 million, making their total worth over $1 billion. No wonder showbiz calls them the ‘Power Couple’.
22. She Forgave Her Cheating Husband
Power couple they may be but life isn’t perfect for Bey and Jay. When the release of her visual album, Lemonade showed an angry and hurt Beyoncé, with clear signs of hurt and infidelity, it was obvious that her rapper husband had cheated on her. The music mogul, Jay, finally spelled it out in an interview with New York Times executive editor Dean Baquet saying, “So even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can’t connect… In my case, like, it’s deep. And then all the things happen from there: infidelity.” The pair used their music as therapy to overcome the heartache and are now stronger than ever with two new additions to their family.
23. She was Named the World’s Most Beautiful Woman
In 2012, People magazine named Queen B the most beautiful woman in the world. Her natural looks and curvy figure has inspired thousands of teenage girls and women to embrace who they are and love what they were given.
