Sia’s Actual Face and Reason She Hides It – Revealed!

Whether it’s in her music videos, on stage or during interviews, Sia’s face is almost always hidden. If it isn’t an over-sized wig obscuring her visage then it’s 13-year-old dancing prodigy, Maggie Ziegler who’s always there to steal the spotlight.

She conceals her look with crazy wigs and costumes so much, to the point where we question if she’s trying to become the new Lady Gaga.

So why doesn’t Sia show her face?

Sia’s incredible voice belts out from behind an extravagant headpiece, leaving a lot of people wondering why the singer chooses to disguise herself in the limelight. Don’t get us wrong, there have been times when Sia has revealed her identity but what stops her from doing so more often?

Sia Doesn’t Want to be Famous or Recognizable

The gifted composer and singer finds it difficult to deal with fame and all that comes with it. Although Sia has been singing for over 10 years, her gradual rise to fame as of late has pushed her to cover up more.

In October 2013, she wrote an article for Billboard called My Anti-Fame Manifesto (By Sia Furler):

“If anyone besides famous people knew what it was like to be a famous person, they would never want to be famous Imagine the stereotypical highly opinionated, completely uninformed mother-in-law character and apply it to every teenager with a computer in the entire world. Then add in all bored people, as well as people whose job it is to report on celebrities. Then, picture that creature, that force, criticizing you for an hour straight once a day, every day, day after day.”

She Doesn’t Want to be Judged

Fame and fortune comes with a price and that’s having to face (see what we did there?) people’s criticism over your appearance. Sia doesn’t want people to point fingers at her and judge so she chooses to obscure most of her face underneath her signature black and blonde wig.

Sia told Chris Connelly in 2014, “I don’t want to be famous, or recognizable. I don’t want to be critiqued about the way that I look on the internet,”

Sia Wants Privacy and Likes Mystery

The camera-shy star never shows her face in public so that she can live a paparazzi-free life. She told Ellen DeGeneres last year:

“Well it’s just so that I can go to Target and buy a hose if I want to. Or if I find I’m in need of a restroom, I can go in the side of the road, no one would be following me with a camera trying to get a shot.”

When Sia joined James Corden for their epic Carpool Karaoke session, she gave him a deeper reason as to why she hides her face from the spotlight and why she prefers privacy and anonymity:

“I don’t wear this if there aren’t cameras around. I only wear this to maintain a modicum of privacy. I was a singer for like 10 or 11 years to mediocre success, and I was an alcoholic and a drug addict. I sobered up and decided I didn’t want to be an artist anymore, because I was starting to become a little bit famous, and it was destabilising in some way.”

The Titanium singer battled with prescription drug addiction, alcoholism, depression and bipolar disorder for years and in 2010 planned to commit suicide…

“So I thought, ‘What doesn’t exist in pop music at the moment?’ And it was mystery. I was like there’s pictures on Instagram of everyone at the dentist.”

Is Sia being Hypocritical?

We totally understand Sia’s frustration with fame and being in the spotlight. But then again, some would say her huge platinum wigs and giant fringes actually draw more attention towards her. Sia’s performances and controversial music videos do create a buzz and shock-value after-all.

So is she being somewhat hypocritical? Especially since we know what her actual face looks like…

What Does Sia Actually Look Like?

So, has anyone ever seen Sia’s actual face? Of course! She may begrudge fame and strive for a life of privacy but from time to time, the Chandelier singer actually reveals her identity.

In fact, she’s quite lucky – Sia gets to be a superstar but avoid the detriments of fame at the same time. I’m sure there are hundreds of celebs who wish they could go to the supermarket and not be recognized for the day.

There are many who wouldn’t recognize wigless-Sia if they bumped into her in the street. This saves her from that paparazzi-fan-crazed lifestyle that most celebrities have to endure.

Sia’s face may go unnoticed but her talent certainly doesn’t. She’s a truly gifted superstar and doesn’t need her face to show it. When you have a phenomenal voice like hers, everything else is irrelevant. Her great music speaks for itself. If she wants her privacy, I guess we shouldn’t begrudge that.
